Caribbean Destination Weddings

The Caribbean brings images of luxury resorts, soft powder beaches, incredible blue water, fruitful plantations and beautiful sunsets. The Caribbean is most popular with those who live on the East Coast due to the close proximity. English is widely spoken on the islands and visitors enjoy the warm and welcoming islanders as well as exciting watersports, music and cuisine. Also, wedding requirements are fairly lenient, making the Caribbean easy to legally marry in.
Here are some things to keep in mind when considering and planning a destination wedding in the Caribbean:
- Passports. Passports are required with the exception of St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and Puerto Rico.
- Hurricanes. Hurricane season is from June 1- November 30. The peak of the hurricane season (when the majority occur) is from August 15- September 30. While most days are hot and sunny during this time period, with a few passing showers, those who do not want to take a risk should avoid booking their wedding during this time frame.
- "Island Time." Those who live and work in the Caribbean operate with a very unhurried attitude. Everything gets done in time - but on their schedule. At Saizan's Travel we stay on top of all wedding vendors, pushing them along. However, if you consider yourself a "control freak" then "Island Time" will push you over the edge, so we would suggest another destination such as Hawaii.
